Faithful adaptations are titles flagged as adaptations whose faithfulness score is at least 70. The flag is titles.is_adaptation. The score is the stored faithfulness_score, a 0–100 rollup of the seven-dimension checklist in the faithfulness work: plot, character, tone, setting and world, personality, cultural context, and the demographic accuracy of characters against the source. Originals are not scored as unfaithful. They are left without a faithfulness score, and a null score cannot clear a floor of 70, so an original never enters this intent by omission. That matches the product rule that faithfulness is N/A for originals rather than a failing grade.
Seventy is a discovery cutoff, not a new band inside the scoring engine. scoring.md does not publish a named "high" tier for the checklist the way it publishes advocacy tiers. The intent has to draw a line somewhere if the URL is going to mean a set rather than a sort. Seventy means the checklist average is in the top third of the 0–100 scale: the adaptation is closer to the source than to a free reimagining, on the dimensions that were actually filled. A 69 stays out. Raising or lowering the cutoff would be a catalog decision recorded in design/intent-discovery.md, not a change to how the checklist is computed. This feature does not touch that computation.
Advocacy is intentionally not a member of the predicate. A faithful adaptation can sit in any advocacy tier. The entertainment band is 0–20, mixed is 21–40, message-leaning is 41–65, and advocacy-driven is 66 and above. Readers who want the overlap have it from the URL contract: open /browse?intent=faithful-adaptations and add the entertainment-first constraint only by switching intents, or compare the two sets from their landing pages. The data story on faithfulness versus advocacy is mapped to this intent because the story's subject is the checklist, and the story page's Explore control uses the story's own linked titles when that funnel is stored, falling back to this intent when the funnel is only thematic.
Ordering is faithfulness_score descending, with title id as the tiebreak, so two visitors who paste the same URL see one sequence. The status gate still applies. A high checklist score on a partial row is not published through this intent. Provider and min_confidence work here exactly as they work on every other intent: AND-ed, parameterized, and omitted when the URL does not carry them. Provider names are an allowlist of US streaming labels, not a free string written into SQL.
Use the title page to see which of the seven dimensions pulled a score under or over the line. Use the methodology page for the dimension weights and for the rule that source text, not a recap, is the comparison. Use corrections when a dimension cites the wrong edition or the wrong cut. The intent exists so that "adaptations that stay with the source" is a URL, not a tour through the faithfulness control on every browse session.
The weights and the bands this page cites are published on the methodology page. The live set is browse this intent. The same parameter works on explore.
